For my genre transformation post, I decided to make an Instagram post since that is the social media outlet in which I am more vocal about my opinions because of the large following I have on there compared to other app. I decided to make Instagram stories and post about my topic. One post, I decided to write down all the name of the innocent black lives that were taken at the hands of police and then asked whether or not my followers recognized at least half of the names. In the second post, I put two pictures side by side one another. One picture was of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, kneeling during the national anthem before the football game and the other was of Derek Chauvin, kneeling on top of George Floyd. As triggered as that image may be, it is important that people see the double standard when it comes to White and Black individuals. One man was protesting the killings of Black people by police and hurting no one, meanwhile the other was kneeling and evidently killed an innocent Black man. My goal was to help my followers realize that police brutality and racial inequality does exist and happens everyday, whether we see it on the news or not.
